Buhari Allegedly Orders Promotion Of Disgraced Ex-EFCC Boss, Magu To AIG

LAGOS JULY 6TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Disgraced former Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu will on Tuesday be promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

His promotion according to our source was a directive by President Muhammadu Buhari but will be announced by the Police Service Commission,  PSC.

Exactly a year ago, in July 2020, Magu who fell out with the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami was picked up on the streets of Abuja and subsequently disgraced out of office over corruption charges and allegations of gross misconduct against him. He was replaced by Mohammed Umar as the acting Chairman.

Magu was subsequently summoned  by Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) over his sudden stupendous wealth including properties traced to him. He was also asked to produce proof of asset declarations he made since joining the force.

He was also ordered to produce copies of his appointment letter, acceptance, records of service and pay slips from January to May 2020, and relevant documents related to his real estate assets.

Pointblanknews.com revealed that facts also emerged on how accumulated interest rates on the recovered N550 billion by the EFCC in the period under review were allegedly re-looted.

Also, Justice Ayo Salami-led Presidential Judicial Commission of Inquiry in a report to President Buhari indicted Magu over allegations bordering on abuse of office and mismanagement of Federal Government Recovered Assets and Finances from May 2015 to May 2020.

After the report was submitted to the presidency, nothing was heard about the matter again, instead, President Buhari has decided to promote the corrupt officer to one of the highest ranks in the Nigeria Police.
