Corruption: Cash-For-Shirts Scandal Rocks Super Eagles’ Coach

LAGOS NOVEMBER 3RD (NEWSRANGERS)-Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has strongly denied allegations that he cajoled his squad members, into signing contracts with a France-based agent simply known as ‘Mr. William’, in exchange for a regular place in the national team.

SportingLife claims that William is acting as a front for Rohr, who usually woos players to sign contracts with his management team, with the aim of getting a mouth-watering commission whenever they switch clubs.

It is alleged that no fewer than six senior Nigerian stars, have signed with the agent.

However, Rohr has dismissed the allegation as baseless and unfounded, although he admitted knowing William.

“There is an agent called William based in France. Most of these players mentioned were already in the Super Eagles before they joined his management team.

“These boys are close and they discuss what their management teams offer amongst themselves and they convince themselves to change management teams for better offers.

“For instance, Anderson Esiti who was named in the list of players that purportedly signed the contract with William’s management team was not included in the squad for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho.

“Is it that his payment has expired and Mikel Agu who just returned to the Eagles has just renewed his subscription,” Rohr said in a response he made through the Eagles’ media officer, Toyin Ibitoye.
