Customs CG, Aregbesola, Others May Make Buhari’s ‘Next Level’ Cabinet


LAGOS MAY 3RD (NEWSRANGERS)-The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Col Hameed Ali and former Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, have been listed as some of those who will emerge ministers to drive President Muhammadu Buhari’s “Next Level” agenda, a new report has said.
Dr Babatunde Fowler, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), is also on the list of would-be appointees in Buhari’s second term cabinet.
Similarly, the erstwhile Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, who has been elected to represent Ogun Central at the Nigerian Senate, as well as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Hadiza Bala Usman, also made the ministerial list, Presidential insiders told Pointblanknews.com.
According to NaijaNews, the report said Fowler is being positioned to emerge
the Auditor General, while Hameed, regarded as a close ally of Buhari, is penciled to emerge as Defence Minister, a position currently held by Mansur Muhammad Dan Ali.
The report also said the Minister of State Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, is also on the tentative list but it is not clear if he is going to retain the same portfolio.
Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, is missing on Buhari’s list of new ministers, the report said.
Naija News reports that the former Lagos State governor was appointed a minister in 2015 and had been tagged “super minister” after becoming the first Nigerian to head three ministries.
Meanwhile, President Buhari is currently in London, the United Kingdom for what the Presidency tagged a “private visit” and is expected back in the country Sunday, May 5.
