IGP’s Order For Arrest Of Sunday Igboho Sparks Reaction In Social Media
LAGOS JANUARY 24TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The report that the Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Adamu, has ordered for the arrest of popular Yoruba activist and grassroot politician, Sunday Igboho, has sparked social media reactions.
African Examiner reports that Igboho had issued a quit notice to Fulani herdsmen in the state due to their alleged criminal activities and on Friday he and some of his supporters stormed Igangan, Ibarapa North local government area of Oyo state asking the herders to vacate the community.
This development has made the IGP to issue a directive for the arrest of the activist as it was reported that houses belonging to the herders were destroyed.
Reacting, some Nigerians took to the micro-blogging platform to berate the IGP for the arrest order as a Northern group had once given the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto State, Hassan Kukah a quite notice for his Christmas Sermon.
According to some, if Igboho is to be arrested and prosecuted, those who gave quit notice to Bishop Kukah should also do the same.
