IGP’s Order For Arrest Of Sunday Igboho Sparks Reaction In Social Media

LAGOS JANUARY 24TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The report that the Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Adamu, has ordered for the arrest of popular Yoruba activist and grassroot politician, Sunday Igboho, has sparked social media reactions.

African Examiner reports that Igboho had issued a quit notice to Fulani herdsmen in the state due to their alleged criminal activities and on Friday he and some of his supporters stormed Igangan, Ibarapa North local government area of Oyo state asking the herders to vacate the community.

This development has made the IGP to issue a directive for the arrest of the activist as it was reported that houses belonging to the herders were destroyed.

Reacting, some Nigerians took to the micro-blogging platform to berate the IGP for the arrest order as a Northern group had once given the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto State, Hassan Kukah a quite notice for his Christmas Sermon.

According to some, if Igboho is to be arrested and prosecuted, those who gave quit notice to Bishop Kukah should also do the same.

African Examiner gathers some of their thoughts below:

Abdul Basit@AA_Basitt writes: “Just a reminder that; The IG of @PoliceNG didn’t order the arrest of the faceless group in Sokoto that issued an ultimatum to Rev. Kukah He didn’t order the arrest of Oba of Lagos when he openly threatened to throw Igbos in Lagoon if they didn’t vote APC Double standards.”

Atikulated soldier@Safeeyan3 writes: “The IGP should also order for the arrest of the northern youths that ordered Bishop Kukah to leave sokoto.”

Dennis Abah@AbahDennis001 writes: “But those who threatened Bishop Kukah to leave Sokoto don’t need to be arrested right???”

Aisha Yesufu@AishaYesufu writes: “Arrest of all those who gave eviction notices to igbos should first be effected. We cannot have different yardsticks for different issues. Was the IGP asleep when we pointed out how wrong all that was?”

Ohiorenuan (#EndSWAT)@Ifnobe_God writes: “The Yoruba political leaders should support their own and see beyond their political ambitions Now. The fire way the smoke dey bring out I go surprise those way start dey blow ham o.”

Explicit of Ibadan@Badmanexplicit writes: “It’s nothing about political ambition A leader’s choice of words is very crucial He cannot obviously incite violence by supporting Igboho Look at what Trump’s choice of words caused at the Capitol Makinde acted in accordance to the constitution and the constitution only.”

Joseph@Joseph310588 writes: “To think some Arewa miscreant ordered Bishop Kukah to apologise or leave Sokoto… and the Presidency.. Presidency o (or @GarShehu issued a statement directing Bishop Kukah to apologise while mildly condemning the eviction notice and taking no further action to order an arrest.”

Henry Chuks Uzor@uzorhenry writes: “Bishop Kukah was asked to leave the North, igbos businesses in the North are under attack human beings are now the trade mark in some parts of Nigeria nobody others for anybody arrest that’s is why we say the Northerners own NIGERIA & everything thereof.”
