#EndSARS Protest in Berlin, Germany

LAGOS OCTOBER 24TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Hundreds of Nigerians in Berlin, Germany, and London, the United Kingdom protested against police brutality, extrajudicial killing, and bad governance in their home country.

During the protest on Saturday, the Nigerians displayed placards with different inscriptions conveying their displeasures.

AFP reports that around 500 demonstrators took to the streets of London.

Black-clad demonstrators, mostly part of Britain’s large Nigerian diaspora, held signs reading “End Sars, end police brutality” and sang “Buhari is a dead man” as they made their way through the streets of the capital.

Others waved Nigerian flags, with some splashed with red paint to make them look bloodstained, while some wore green and white masks and shouted through loudspeakers as they protested at London landmarks, including Parliament Square and the BBC.

They also marched to the London home of Bola Tinubu, the former Lagos state governor and the founder of Buhari’s ruling All Progressive Congress party (APC), who was rumoured to have left Nigeria in the wake of the violence.

Peaceful demonstrations against police brutality erupted in Nigeria on October 8 and later snowballed into a call for good governance in the country.

Amnesty International has said at least 1o protesters were gunned down by the army and police Lekki toll gate, Lagos on Tuesday, and a total of 56 people have died since the demonstrations began.

The president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), had addressed the country over the #EndSARS protests, urging that demonstrations should be discontinued.
