Suspected Herdsmen Set Falae’s Farm On Fire

LAGOS JANUARY 22ND (NEWSRANGERS)-The farm of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, in Ilado, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, was on Sunday evening invaded by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The herdsmen reportedly invaded the farm around 5:30 pm and set it on fire.
They were said to have run away immediately the security operatives at the farm noticed the fire outbreak.
Moshood Raji, Personal Assistant to Falae, confirmed the incident, saying the palm tree plantation farm was seriously affected.
“The security operatives stationed at the farm noticed the fire around 6:20 pm and rushed to the scene of the incident only to find some Fulani herdsmen running away from the scene.
“All the maize and cassava have been destroyed while the palm oil plantation was seriously affected.
“The farm, which is over 40 hectares, was destroyed by the herdsmen for no reason.
“All efforts by the security operatives to arrest the herdsmen proved abortive.
“The security men ran after the invaders but the inferno prevented them from crossing to the other side of the farm,” he said.
Raji, however, said nobody was attacked as workers were not on the farm, being a Sunday.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ondo State Command, Femi Joseph, said he was not yet aware of the incident as at the time of filing the report.
Joseph promised to get in touch with the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area for briefing.
The farm of the former SGF, who was once kidnapped, has been attacked several times in the last couple of years.
