LAGOS OCTOBER 15TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The first choice goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria Francis Uzoho is out of the Super Eagles of Nigeria AFCON 2020 Qualifiers games set to begin next month, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Uzoho went off injured yesterday during the Super Eagles 1-1 friendly game against Brazil and scans indicate that he could be out for a while with coach Gernot Rohr confirming that he need at least a month to be fully fit again.
According to Rohr, Uzoho suffered a meniscus injury and there was also damage to his external ligament base on the result of the scan, which means he could need at least a month to be ready.
Nigeria will begin their campaign to be at the 2020 Africa Cup of Nations on the 11th of October against Benin Republic before taking on Lesotho three days later and the games could come too soon for the on loan Deportivo La Coruna shot stopper, who has impressed in Cyprus for Omonia Nicosia.
It means Rohr will have to decide between Ikechukwu Ezenwa who plays in the Nigeria Professional Football League that is yet to start or Maduka Okoye who made his debut as a second half substitute in yesterday’s draw against Brazil after Uzoho went off injured.
