EndSARS: Hoodlums Set Orile, Kpako, Ajegunle Police Stations Ablaze In Lagos

LAGOS OCTOBER 20TH (NEWSRANGERS)-In continuation of EndSARS protest that has  enveloped the nation, suspected hoodlums had burnt down no fewer than three police stations in Lagos suburb of Orile-Iganmu, Kpako and Layeni in Ajegunle, Apapa area of Lagos.

Hoodlums have burnt down the Apapa Iganmu Police Station in Lagos State, report reaching News Direct says.

The incident occurred around 09.45 am, according to an eyewitness. He alleged that it all started when police at Orile-Iganmu reportedly shot at them  during their peaceful protest.

The spokesperson of the Orile-Iganmu Local Government Area, Ayo Micheal said, “Yes, the station has been attacked.

“The burnt Station is in Apapa Iganmu but serviced both Iganmu community in Apapa Iganmu and Orile Community in Coker/Aguda.”

The hoodlums left Orile-Iganmu to Layeni Police Station along Ojo Road, Ajegunle after touching Kpako Police. At Layeni Police Station, they drove away the policemen on duty and set the building ablaze.

They moved from there to Ajeromi Police Station located  at Bale Street, Ajegunle, but they were repelled by sporadic gunshots by policemen stationed at the police station.

Beside, the hoodlums to attempt to attack Tolu Police Post in Olodi – Apapa and Tin Police Post in Tin-Can Island, Apapa were equally repelled by policemen stationed at the post.

As at when  writing this report, NewsRangers correspondent is hearing  noise of barrage of gunshots from both Ajeromi and Tin-Can Island Port,Apapa.

An eyewitness, Ladipo, said at least eight persons were injured.

 He said, “The crisis started from Orile Iganmu. People were protesting peacefully and the police shot at them. Later, the boys heard that policemen have killed their people at Iganmu.

 “There is tension everywhere. We have rushed eight people to the hospital. They were critically injured,” he affirmed.

When contacted on the telephone, the Chief Press Secretary of Ajeromi Ifelodun LCDA, Sheriff Fakunle, said, “Yes, it is on fire. Layeni Police Station has been torched. The incident happened around 11 am.

“At Ajeromi police station, the hoodlums were repelled.”
