Female Pastor Remanded For Allegedly Obtaining N23m Under False Pretense

LAGOS JANUARY 24TH (NEWSRANGERS)-A Female Pastor, Mercy Daniel Ogbonaya is currently in detention at a Correctional Centre in Port Harcourt after a Federal High Court sitting the state ordered her remand in prison custody.

Justice I.M Sani ordered Ogbonaya’s remand over an offence bordering on obtaining money by false pretense, which is contrary to Section 1 (1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act.

The defendant was arraigned by the Port Harcourt Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

According to a tweet on its handle, the EFCC said the suspect was arraigned on one count charge.

The anti-graft agency is yet to state how and when the pastor committed the offence at the time of this report.

The commission did not also disclose the name of the pastor’s church.
