Fresh Trouble For Godwin Obaseki As Seven Edo Gov Candidates Threaten Legal Action

LAGOS OCTOBER 10TH (NEWSRANGERS)-As the Edo governorship elections quiet down after a winner had been announced by INEC, some governorship candidates who were part of the elections and lost, are leaving no stone unturned to bring to justice, an election they have tagged as flawed.

While Nigerians and even the opposition APC have congratulated the winner, Obaseki, who won the elections on the platform of the PDP, some other governorship candidates have, however, hinted at the possibility of instituting a fresh court case against Obaseki.

The group which calls themselves the Edo 2020 Governorship Candidates Forum, through its spokesperson, Bishop Akhalamhe, spoke to reporters on the way forward for the candidate’s post-election.

He hinted that some of the candidates were planning to institute a court case while some others had already gone to court.

He said although the elections were near perfection, it was still not devoid of some small patches of violence and vote-buying accusations.

Akhalamhe also noted that indeed, some members had gone ahead to file complaints and the group will support them in the move, he also disclosed the possibility of filing a collective suit against the conduct of the elections.

The group also appreciated the efforts of the Peace Committee which was led by fmr military ruler, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

They also commended the Oba of Benin for his guidance and fatherly role during and after the elections which also was a great input for the not-too violent elections the state witnessed

The governorship candidates who attended the press briefing as part of the group are; Bishop Akhalamhe (ZLP), Idehen Osagie Lucky (APGA), Elder Felix Obayangbon( SDP), Steve Ozomo (NRM), Pst. (AMB) Amos Areloegbe (CNA), Amb. Ebun Tracy Agol (NNPP) and Edemakhuota Godwin (AA)

Recall gov Godwin Obaseki had won convincingly his closest rival, Ize Iyamu of the APC to be reelected as governor of Edo state after a long battle with his estranged godfather, Adams Oshiomole.

He has long been congratulated by the President and the opposition APC.
