Govs. Approve $1bn From Excess Crude Account To Fight Boko Haram

LAGOS DECEMBER 15TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Governors of the 36 states have approved the withdrawal of $1 billion from the Excess Crude Account for the ongoing fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the North-east.
The decision was taken during the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents after the meeting.?
Obaseki said the approval was announced by the chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari.
“The funds would be spent on the purchase of security equipment, procurement of intelligence and logistics, among others”, Obaseki said.
