Gunmen Abduct Councillor’s Wives, Three Others In Abuja, Demand N200m Ransom

LAGOS JANUARY 7TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Kidnappers have abducted two wives of Idris Mohammed, coucillor representing Gwako ward in Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT and three others.

The names of the abducted councilor’s two wives, his younger sister and his two younger brothers were yet to be ascertained.

A resident, who preferred anonymity, said the incident happened around 12: 08 am on Monday, when gunmen with sophisticated weapons invaded the councillor’s house at the village.

He said the gunmen destroyed the house gate after shooting sporadically.

They, thereafter, entered the house and whisked away the councillor’s wives, his sister and two younger brothers at gunpoint.

He said the councillor, who was in his bedroom, narrowly escaped through one of the exit doors after he discovered that the attackers were kidnappers.

“It was when he discovered that the attackers were kidnappers that he managed to escaped through an exit doors.

“They have now whisked away his two wives, younger sister and two younger brothers that are staying with him,” he said.

N200 million ransom

He said the family had been able to establish contact with the kidnappers on Tuesday morning, adding that they were initially demanding for N200 million ransom.

“But as I speak to you, they had been able to bring down the ransom to N100 million.

“The family was still begging for the attackers to bring down the ransom again.

“They have now brought it down again to N15 million after intensive negotiation,” he said.

He disclosed that one of the  councillor’s abducted wives is heavily pregnant.

The spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, was yet to pick calls or reply to text message sent to her phone to confirm the incident.
