Kidnappers Besiege Osun State As Pastor, Others Fall Victims


LAGOS JUNE 6TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Suspected herdsmen kidnappers have taking over Osun State as travelers and motorists traveling along Gbongan-Ibadan and Ife-Ilesha-Akure Expressway are living in fear because they do not know who will be the next victim.
Information gathered had it that the pastor in charge of Apostolic Church, Oke-yidi road, Modakeke was said to have been kidnapped by the suspected Fulani gunmen about five days ago.
The victim said to be in his wine colour Toyota Corolla car with registration number OSUN 38FFE before his abduction was said to be driving alone in the afternoon before the fierce-looking gunmen at Wasimi via Gbongan along Ife- Ikire-Ibadan expressway abducted him.
The police in the state had no clues on the matter until the clergyman who was said to be in custody of his abductors was released on Tuesday after a ransom of N650,000 was paid.
The kidnappers reportedly shattered the glass of his vehicle with guns, forcefully dragged him out of it, remove his car key, collected his set phone and took him to their den.
A gang of armed robbers reportedly robbed some motorists for about thirty minutes very close to where the pastor car was attacked along the road by the kidnappers before the intervention of the policemen who rescued the motorists from the hands of the robbers.
All effort to speak with the man of God proved abortive when newsmen got to Modakeke after his release as he had been admitted in a private hospital for proper medical treatment.
It was gathered that the Christian Association of Nigeria in Modakeke and some other notable clergies and close associates played a key role in securing his freedom.
Speaking with pressmen, one of the persons who went to secure his freedom and who preferred anonymity quoted pastor Akinniyi as saying, “his abductors comprised of nine Fulani herdsmen and a Yoruba man who understood their language and stood in as their mouthpiece for negotiation of ransom to be paid.”
In another development, 15 members of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Agbala Itura, Ile-Epo, Oke-Odo, Lagos were attacked at Ife-Ijesha Expressway while returning from Ekiti for a funeral outing.
It was said that the kidnappers suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen laid an ambush for them in their Toyota Hiace Bus but the driver tried to manoeuvre his way from the trap set for them. But for the bravery of the driver, the whole people in the bus would have been abducted or killed. The angry bandits opened fire on them with the bus riddled with bullets.Luckily, none of the passengers was hurt by the bullets.
The people in the bus gave tearful testimonies in their church at CAC Agbala Itura, Ile-Epo, Oke-Odo on Sunday. The bus riddled with bullets was parked at the premises of the church.
Report had it on good authority that the gunmen took over the Gbongan-Ikire axis of the road on Monday as early as 10.00 am making motorists to make frantic efforts to scamper for safety. Some residents in the area confirmed the incident, adding that the gunmen have been terrorising the area since Friday making them to live in fear of a possible attack by the daredevil kidnappers.
