Reggae Legend, Majek Fashek Hospitalised In London Hospital, Needs urgent assistance

LAGOS SEPTEMBER 9TH (NEWSRANGERS)-Reggae musician, Majek Fashek, has been hospitalised in a London hospital for undifferentiated-type schizophrenia.
The troubled singer was reportedly flown out of Nigeria on August 24 after he was diagnosed with what sources describe as a serious illness needing urgent medical attention.

His manager, Uzoma Omenka, said Majek took ill last month and was briefly on admission at a Lagos hospital before he was flown abroad.
Omenka has called on Nigerians to save the life of the iconic musician whose travel cost was paid for by an unnamed philanthropist.
“Although his medical bill for the surgery has been taken care of by this notable Nigerian. I don’t want to mention his name, but we have serious issues with day-to-day upkeep.
“As I speak to you, Majek cannot eat and cannot talk. I have to do virtually everything for him. Right now, we are in dire need of finance to survive here in London.
“We spend a lot of money every day to keep him alive. I have approached the Nigerian embassy here but they abandoned us to our fate. Majek has not eaten in days and the only food he can eat has to be specially prepared.
“The truth is, we are stranded here. We are in great debt and we need help urgently if we don’t want this icon to die,” Omenka said.
Majek, born Majekodunmi Fasheke, has a history of alcohol addiction.
He has been in and out of rehabs, with flashes of recovery usually followed by a relapse.
Undifferentiated-type schizophrenia is a classification used when a person exhibits behaviours which fit into two or more of the other types of schizophrenia, including symptoms such as delusions, hallucinations and disorganised speech or behaviour.
Almost half of the people with schizophrenia abuse alcohol and other mind and mood-altering substances.
