Whistleblowers Drag ACP To Court, IGP Over Abuse Of Office, Shielding Criminal

LAGOS NOVEMBER 30TH (NEWSRANGERS)-A whistleblowing group, Eagle Eye Transparency International has dragged one ACP Elema of the IGP-Monitoring Unit to the Inspector General of Police over allegations of ‘abuse of office, protecting and shielding criminal elements in the society, outrightly favoring and using public office to protect criminal suspects’.

Eagle Eye requested for discreet investigation on Elema following the kidnap and detention of one of its agents, Mr. George Davidson.

Recall that ElombahNews had, on November 25, published an article wherein Mr. Davidson lamented that he does not know why he was abducted and detained 46 days in Keffi Prison.

He said that his abductors, the Commandos from IGP-IRT did not tell him his offence and why he was abducted by a team led by one Mr. Monday Ahmed Opanda.

According to him, they kept him for 26 days in police detention from 3rd to 28th October, 2019, and thereafter send him off to Keffi prison.

In a bid to secure justice, Dr. Davidson filed a petition to the Inspector General of Police

He recounted how he was kidnapped after he exposed a Grade level 8 civil servant, who is also a director of a private company while in public service, worth over N500, 000,000.

“Yet,” he said, “the office of the IGP-Monitoring choose to detain the whistleblower leaving the suspect”.

The whistleblowing group, therefore, prayed that ACP Elema be investigated and brought to book.

It, however, warned that if anything happened to its agent, Elema is to be held responsible.

The letter which was signed by Eagle Eye Transparency International President, Mr. Bello Sani, was copied to the President, Vice President, AGF, ONSA, CDS, DG-DSS, ES-NHRC, NASS, FPRO, CRU, media associates, CSOs, all DIGs, all AIGs and all CPs.

See copy of the petition below:

Request For Discreet Investigation of ACP Elema of IGP-Monitoring For Abuse of office and protecting, Shielding Criminal Elements in the Society, Outrightly Favoring and Using Public Office to Protect Criminal Suspects.

Above Subject matter ref:

We are a Non-Governmental Organization with the mandate to expose corruption at every levels.  Please find attached copies of certificate of incorporation and mandates

A Grade level 8 official civil servant, also a director of a private company while in public service, worth over #500, 000,000  yet , the office of the IGP-Monitoring choose to detain the whistleblower leaving the suspect.

Eagle Eye Transparency International agent narrowly escaped been detained at about 5pm yesterday by the order of ACP Elemah we are really confused about our enforcement agencies who interest they protect. The ACP – IGP-Monitoring  practically defended her by saying ‘ she can owned the whole of Abuja, that why are invading her privacy’

Questions arising;

Can a civil servant live above her means?

Has she declared her assets?

Can a serving civil servant be a director of a company while in public office?

Is obviously clear that we are doomed if a police who claimed he practiced law for 28 years would exonerate a a suspect who violated the above law and seek ways to detain the whistleblower.

The lady didn’t even deny any of the allegations against her.

ACP Elema also protected a fraudster who specialized in defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians despite the overwhelming evidence given to Elema and his AO, one SP Usman , rather he detained the Whistleblower and allowed the fraudster to walk free in the month of July 2019.

ACP Elema has commercialized the IGP-Monitoring unit for the highest bidder. The AO is not left out.

Prayers:

ACP Elema should be investigated and brought to book.

If anything happened to our agent, Elema is to be held responsible. [End]

Meanwhile, George Davidson has also dragged him to Federal High Court violation of fundamental human rights.

Besides ACP Elema, the case also has the Nigeria Police Force, IGP, AGF, Asp Opanda Monday and Inspector Edison K as respondents.
