Clerics’ Kidnap, Killing: Omokri Slams Adeboye, Catholic Church

LAGOS AUGUST 2ND (NEWSRANGERS)-Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, says the refusal of the Church to speak up against the high rate of insecurity contributed to the kidnap of five pastors with the church.
He also lambasted the Catholic Church, whose priests had protested the killing of clerics in Enugu on Friday.

Adeboye had revealed on Thursday that five pastors with the RCCG were kidnapped on their way to the ongoing ministers’ conference.
Omokri, who expressed this view separately on his verified Twitter handle @renoomokri and also on his Instagram page “renoomokri” on Friday, said it was ironic that Adeboye could lament the kidnap of RCCG pastors but keep silent over the insecurity in most parts of the nation.
Omokri in the two posts argued that, had Pastor Adeboye been vocal about the failures of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, especially in the area of security, the five RCCG pastors would probably not have been kidnapped, as the government would have sat up much earlier.
Osinbajo is also a pastor with the RCCG and a professed son of Adeboye.
However, Omokri, who also claims to be a pastor, noted that when Jonathan was President between 2010 and 2015, Adeboye was among those who wrote a petition to the former President and even organised a one million-man march.
Omokri wrote, “Sir, if you had spoken publicly when ordinary Nigerians were being kidnapped, may be these ‘your children’ who were kidnapped would not have been abducted. Think about it sir. How many times have you spoken about Leah Sharibu?
“You have commended Buhari and Osinbajo publicly but why have you not spoken up for Leah publicly too?”
When he was tackled by some of Adeboye’s supporters on social media, Omokri responded, “Yes, RCCG and the GO, Adeboye, were publicly vocal under President Jonathan. That they have been publicly vocal under General Buhari is a blatant lie.
“They have largely kept quiet, but now it has happened to them. But if you say I am lying, please provide a link from a reliable source of an instance when Adeboye publicly spoke up against insecurity affecting ordinary Nigerians.”
