Lagos Socialite, Oluwo, Remanded Over Alleged Robbery, Murder
LAGOS AUGUST 22ND (NEWSRANGRS)-A Chief Magistrate Court in Sagamu, Ogun State, has ordered the remand of a suspected land grabbing kingpin, Kamorudeen Lamina, popularly called ‘Sir K Oluwo’.
Lamina, a socialite known for throwing lavish parties in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, is accused of forcefully taking over lands from their owners.
He was arraigned on four-count charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to murder, murder, unlawful possession of firearms and armed robbery.
According to the charge, Oluwo conspired with some persons still at large, on or before March 9, 2011, to rob Saka Gbemisola, Kareem Bello and others of the sum of N180,000 among other items at Ologbon Odukosi village in the Sagamu Magisterial District.
Other items listed are one Astor Electronic Teoolita with its tripod valued at N30,000, a mobile phone, clothes, shoes, wristwatches, and identity cards.
The charge says Lamina violated section 1(2)(a) of the robbery and firearms (special provision) Act Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004 with the wielding of guns, axes, cutlasses, and knives.
He is accused of killing three men – Akeem Adegbaru, Fatai Adeleye and Adebisi Adelakun.
Defence counsel, Bayo Omotuburuwa, had prayed the court not to grant the ex-parte application which was placed before the court by the prosecuting counsel, Adeola Adeleye.
Omotuburuwa also prayed the court to grant his client bail, quoting Section 307 of the Administration of Criminal Justice (ACJ) to support his argument.
Chief magistrate B.J Ojikutu refused the defendant bail and ordered that Oluwo be remanded in prison, pending the Attorney-General’s legal advice.
The case was adjourned till September 26.
Yinka Quadri, Olaiya Igwe, Muka Ray and other Yoruba actors were at Lamina’s 50th birthday party in Odoguyan, Ikorodu last year.
