Lagos State Govt Debunks Report On alleged Return Of Monthly Environmental Sanitation


LAGOS JUNE 11TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The Lagos State Government has said that there is no iota of truth in the piece of information circulating on the social media stating that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has signed an Executive Order approving the return of environmental sanitation every last Saturday of every month in the state.
A statement issued in Lagos on Monday by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Lagos State, Gboyega Akosile refuted such information and urged Lagosians to kindly ignore the message for now.
The statement said that although Governor Sanwo-Olu signed an Executive Order against indiscriminate and illegal dumping of waste in the State, there was still an ongoing debate on the return of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise which it said was still a proposal.
It stated that Lagosians would be notified appropriately when the monthly environmental sanitation exercise was to commence.
It reads,” Based on an alleged report on the return of ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION at every last Saturday of every month in Lagos, meaning restriction of movement from 7am to 10am.
“The attention of Lagos State government has been drawn to a piece of information shared on social media platforms stating that there will be environmental sanitation exercise every Saturdays as a result of an Executive Order signed by His Excellency, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“The government refutes such information and urges Lagosians to kindly ignore the message for now.
“It states that although Governor Sanwo-Olu signed an Executive Order against indiscriminate and illegal dumping of waste in the State, but there is still an ongoing debate on the return of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise which is still a proposal.
“The government says Lagosians will be notified appropriately when the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is to commence”.
