Nigeria May Drop In FIFA Rankings Following Defeat To Cameroon

LAGOS JUNE 17TH (NEWSRANGERS)-The Super Eagles of Nigeria will lose their position as 3rd placed team on the African continent base on the FIFA Rankings when it is released for the month of May.

Nigeria played two games against Cameroon during the international break losing 0-1 and drawling 0-0 in the games separated by a four days interval.

By virtue of that it will see them lose points and drop to 5th behind Algeria and Morocco respectively who were both victorious during the last round of international friendly games.

Super Eagles will likely drop to 34th in the world from their present position of 32 at the moment. Cameroon who are 8th in Africa will move up to 6th behind the Nigerian team.

Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has long voice out his wish for the Super Eagles to be among the top five in Africa as it will come handy in the final rounds of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The top five teams will be seeded in the final round of the qualifying series which will be played on home and away basis in the new format for the African qualifiers.
